Dr. Castillo, Board Certified in General Surgery, began his surgical practice in metropolitan Phoenix after completing his training at the Phoenix Integrated Surgical Residency Program. He was the first surgeon in downtown Phoenix to perform sentinel node biopsy for breast cancer and melanoma. Over the last five years, he has achieved a 100% success rate in identifying sentinel node in breast cancer. He is one of only a few surgeons treating esophageal cancer in Arizona and has demonstrated a 0% mortality over the past 10 years. He is one of the only a few surgeons in Arizona performing MIPR (minimally invasive parathyroid resection_ and with virtually 100% success in an out-patient setting.
Dr. Castillo is one of the only surgeons willing to treat patients with achalasia using a laparoscopic approach in an out-patient setting.
